Learning Outcomes in Designing Programs & Courses Workshop 9 – 11 October 2016
The Education Development Center (EDC) – Planning Department and Directorate and Yanbu English Language Institute (YELI) have jointly organized a high impact Learning Outcomes in Designing Programs and Courses Workshop from 9 – 11 October 2016. The workshop was conducted by Professor Peter John Hodson who has 20 years’ experience in academic support and services for 31 higher education institutions and agencies in the UK, Europe, SE Asia and the Middle East.
Our honorable Director General Dr. Salem Al-Etani provided his speech pertaining to NCAAA including aspiration speeches made by Dr. Mohammed Alghamdi (DMD PDCI) and Dr. Wael Alharbi (MD of YELI).
The workshop was attended by 73 program coordinators, curriculum coordinators, NCAAA committee members and PDCI HoDs from both the men and women campuses. The workshop was planned to educate selected faculty members to obtain a better understanding of designing learning outcomes and apply them when they return to their respective departments. The participants learnt how the use of learning outcomes related to broader questions about student learning and developing good ILOs. The process of approving program and course approval, using course reports for improvement and preparing for NCAAA review were also deliberated by Professor Hodson. Overall, the workshop oriented the participants on the changes and adaptation needed for programs to fit into the NCAAA framework.
